Matrix
ointment
Sample(s)

250 mg wound and healing ointment ( 5 % dexpanthenol) are taken up in 5 mL water or methanol and sonicated for 5 min

Conditions

Applied volume: 2 µL aqueous or methanolic extract Eluent: 1-butanol - methanol - ammonia (5.5:2.5:2.0, v/v/v) Migration time: 20 min

Detection
after developing and drying, the plate is immersed in 0.5 % ethanolic ninhydrine solution and dried at 125 °C
Note
Due to the use of nanoparticles on ALUGRAM Xtra Nano-SIL G UV254 the dexpanthenol spot can seen much better as on ALUGRAM Xtra SIL G UV254.
