Detection
254 nm: underivatised Daylight and 366 nm: spray with 5 % ethanolic sulphuric acid, 1 % vanillic acid and heat to 105 °C
Note
The chromatograms show the following zones with increasing Rf values: Linalool (bluish grey) Eugenol (yellowish brown) Myristicin (reddish brown) Anethole (pink-violet) Other coloured zones may appear.
